Goalkeeper Stephen Adams has been criticised for his performance in Aduana Stars' FA Cup semifinal defeat to Asante Kotoko.
Head coach Abdul Rahman Ameyaw was left reeling after watching his side go down 3-1 to the defending champions at the Sunyani Coronation Park. He has blamed the experienced shot-stopper's lack of composure and defensive command on the day as largely contributing to his side's failure to reach the final.
“To be fair, there was nothing he could have done about the second goal which was a penalty, but I feel that both the first and the last goals could have been avoided had he kept his composure," Ameyaw said post-match.
“I know it's teamwork and that the entire team should be held responsible for the defeat, but for me he didn’t organise the defence well and that made the defenders commit some mistakes.”
Bonney opened the scoring with a thunderous strike from 35 yards before adding the second with a penalty. Godfred Saka however pulled one back but Michael Akuffo dashed Aduana's hopes of a comeback by firing in a well-taken free-kick.
Kotoko have progressed to the August 10 grand finale and are awaiting the winner of the second semifinal game between Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC.
