Adebayor Coming for Essien Peace Match

Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor has confirmed place in Essien match Real Madrid striker, Emmanuel Adebayor has confirmed that he will play in this month's charity match organised by Michael Essien to promote peace in Africa.

The charity game scheduled for Accra on 25 May will see a star-studded World XI side playing a crack Africa XI side. Adebayor, who resides in the Ghanaian capital when he's in Africa, delayed his confirmation because of club commitments. But with Real Madrid out of the Champions League, the Togo international is available to help promote peace in Africa.

Adebayor's local manager, Foussena Djagba, who is also the the manager of Z-Sports International, confirmed the Real Madrid star's participation in the game. "Adebayor will also be coming to Accra to play in the peace game to help promote peace in Africa," Djagba said.

"Important matches and events like this is what Adebayor wants to support and he's happy to come and help Essien promote peace for our continent. Adebayor will be mobbed by the fans when he arrives in Ghana before the game as he already has a fan club based in Accra.

Another player confirming his participation is Paolo Maldini, the Italy legend. Several top world class players will play for the Rest of the World XI, which will contain the Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda.

The Africa team is set to include Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o of Internazionale, and Manchester City's Touré brothers, Kolo and Yaya.

Essien, who is an African Union peace ambassador, said he has "spoken to Paolo Maldini and many other great players". George Weah, the former world player of the year, now 44, is expected to feature.
