England-based striker Emmanuel Adebayor has made an astonishing U-turn to play for Togo in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with an appetizing game against Ghana to come.

The 30-year-old had announced his umpteenth international sabbatical 18-months ago after falling out with former Togo coach Dider Six.

Adebayor, who was born in Ghana to Nigerian parents is desperate to play against the Black Stars where he is friends with most of the Ghanaian players.

The ex Arsenal man has always harboured the desire of playing against the star-studded Ghana team ever since his emergence as a global star.

He is determined to prove himself against Ghana and fancies his chances against the Black Stars team whose weakness as shown at the 2014 World Cup is their defence.

Adebayor has already arrived in Lome to join up with his international colleagues for their opening 2015 AFCON qualifier against Guinea in Casablanca.

It is however next week’s game against Ghana that instinctively attracted the former Manchester City star to make himself suddenly available for an international call up.

His return will obviously send some shockwaves into his Ghanaian friends who know way too well how deadly he can be on a good day.

Coach Kwesi Appiah must now device a strategy to ensure Adebayor does not find his rhythm in the game to be played on September 10 in Lome.
