Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Premier League Champions, Aduana Stars, Albert Commey insists the club wants venue change for the Super Cup clash against FA Cup winners Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The Ghana Football Association chose the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium for the game which is played to usher in the new season.
The game is expected to be played on the 27th January barring any unforeseen circumstances. However, Champions Aduana Stars are opposing the venue for the game citing the region favours the porcupine warriors.
“We aren’t happy with it” he told Kumasi based Sikka FM. “This is the Super Cup. Why should we play it in a region where our opponent is located? How did they settle on the venue?” Commey questioned.
“If they want to be fair then they should change the venue. This is our decision. We are waiting to hear from them. If they want us to be part, then they must change and choose different venue” he said.
“We’ve written to the FA about it. Whatever they will say, we will move on from there. They should try us, we aren’t pushovers, whether we are serious or not they should try it” Albert Commey said.
The new Ghana Premier League is set to start on February 11th.
