Africa will do well at the World Cup – Habuba

Suleiman Habuba, former Communications Director of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is buoyant Africa will have a good story to tell in Brazil when the World Cup kicks off in the summer.

Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Algeria and Cameroon will carry Africa’s flag at the gathering of the best 32 teams and Habuba is convinced the quintet could come good depending on their approach to the month-long event.

Habuba, a FIFA instructor and a football consultant since resigning from his position at CAF last year told GNA Sports “I expect the teams to do well in Brazil once they prepare very well.

“Note that many African players now ply their trades in Europe where they have most of their mates and opponents as players for the other national teams as well.

“This means they are already familiar with most of the players they are likely to meet in Brazil and that puts them in a good position psychologically.

“If they use that plus their physical attributes to their advantage, they will have good stories to tell in Brazil.”

Ghana remains Africa’s best performer in the last two editions of the Mundial and still considered the continent’s favourite ahead of the World Cup.

The Black Stars are housed in Group G alongside Germany, Portugal and the USA while Cameroon are in Group A with host Brazil, Croatia and Mexico.

The Elephants are in Group C with Japan, Greece and Colombia with Nigeria pitted with Argentina, Iran and Bosnia- Herzegovina in Group F. In Group H, Algeria will battle Belgium, Russia and Korea Republic.
