Afriyie Acquah has described his exclusion from Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations squad as “right and acceptable.”
The Parma midfielder was not named in head coach Kwesi Appiah’s provisional 26-man squad last Thursday.
The hard-tackling player was expected to make the cut after an impressive display in the second leg final round qualifier against Malawi away.
The 20-year-old scored Ghana’s only goal in the 1-0 win which wrapped up a 3-0 aggregate score line.
Acquah, owned by Palermo, says he respects the decision of the coach.
“The competition for places in the Black Stars is very competitive and I always understood that so I feel normal now,” Acquah said in an interview.
“I wish I had the opportunity to play for my country but that has been postponed, deservedly so I believe. I can only accept and respect the decision of Coach Appiah.
“I believe he will call me at the appropriate time when he believes I deserve a place.”
