Accra, April 2, GNA - The Chief Operating Officer of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of Ghana 2008, Magnus Rex Danquah has underlined the need for the "Agenda 2015" to target the hosting of events. The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports has initiated an "Agenda 2015" policy, which the Operating Officer believes making the hosting of events its focus could drive the dream. Rex Danquah said these in an address to participants at the ministry's three-day national sports strategic plan workshop that commenced in Accra on Wednesday. He underscored the need for a national crusade on holistic sports development towards the successful implementation of the agenda. He said hosting events is a perfect way of getting governmental and private sector participation and support that otherwise would have been torrid to get. "Linking up the hosting of events to any agenda such as the 2015 soccer fiesta is always an easy way of justifying the provision of facilities that will go a long way to benefit the development of sports in any country." Ghana would bid for the hosting of the 2015 All African Games for the first time.

Rex Danquah said delivering a perfect event in 2015 means maintaining the existing infrastructure whilst finding a way of providing new ones to serve the purpose. "The maintenance of the four new stadia at Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Sekondi and other facilities used for the Nations Cup must be seen as a collective responsibility. "We must be mindful of the state of the infrastructure because without it, the agenda will go waste." The Chief Operating Officer emphasised on the need to get 'a special purpose vehicle' to drive the dream of providing the requisites for the hosting of the quadrennial event.
