Former Turkish champions Fenerbahce are among several Super Lig clubs angling for services of Jerry Akaminko, according to the player. The 24 year old has been known to be considering a move away from his current station.

Now at Manisaspor, the defender claims the giants are keen on beating Trabzonspor and Eskisehirspor to his signature. Akaminko also says the two clubs are wooing him away from his current club with some good offers.

"The rumours you've heard are true. I still remain a Manisaspor player and they have treated me very well here but there have been those offers," the player told SuperSport.com correspondents in Turkey.

Fenerbahce need another centre-back badly after Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo finally completed his protracted £2m transfer from England. The club need more cover at the back as they build for an onslaught in Europe. The club earlier confirmed the signing of Serbian winger Milos Krasic from Juventus as well. "Some good stuff is happening at Fenerbahce and who would not like to join such a train?" Akaminko said.

He signed a two-year deal with the Manisa-based side last season after helping Orduspor to secure promotion to the Turkish top flight.

Open options

The player seems aware of the potential of being a bench warmer with the giants if other defenders are considered for the first team, which is why he says the options are open for the moment. "Eskisehirspor are also a good option because they are in the Europa League as we speak. And they will start their qualifiers against Marseille. All these things must be considered if I have to go anywhere," the former Olympic team captain said.

Further difficulties for Manisaspor in keeping the defender is that they were relegated from the top flight last season. Akaminko was named Defender of the Year in the Ghana Premier League in the latter part of the last decade and made a recent return to the Black Stars.
