He may still be in early days with new club Manisaspor, but Ghanaian defender Jerry Akaminko has been so overwhelmed with the welcome he has received this early, he is already convinced he made a good decision switching Orduspor for the new club.

Akaminko played for three years with the Ordu club in Turkey’s second tier league culminating in pushing them to promotion at the end of last season.

His mission accomplished at Orduspor, the 23 year old finally succumbed to the wishes of Manisaspor, signing a 3-year deal with the club which finished 10th in the Turkey top flight last term. “The people are very nice, everyone is nice to me, the players, coaches, management and even the fans. Everybody wants to be nice to me and I’m really enjoying it big time. You won’t even know that I am new at the club, I am so happy,” Akaminko told ALL SPORTS exclusively from his Turkey base.

Having just returned from a preseason camp in Austria, Manisaspor are back in Turkey rounding up preparations for the commencement of the 2011/12 Turkey Super League season which has been pushed forward to September 9 instead of the previously set August 9.

Akaminko tells ALL SPORTS of the mission he has to make Manisa a greater club than when he joined them. “The dream, the prayer is to be part of the Top 4 or Top 5

and from what I’ve seen of my teammates, I think we can do it. “I have no personal interest even though as every footballer, I hope to play all matches. The dream is to power Manisa to success and I believe we will,” a fired up Akaminko told ALL SPORTS via phone.
