Former Black Stars coach Akwasi Appiah has confirmed that he declined an offer to coach the senior national team of Sudan following his splendid show in the Sudanese league with Al Khartoum.
According to the former Black Stars skipper and coach, the Sudanese Football Federation wanted him to coach the national team as well as his club Al Khartoum but he declined accepting such an offer.
"Yes they approached me but I declined the offer. They wanted me to coach Al Khartoum as well as the national team but I told them I couldn't do that job," Alwasi Appiah told Kessben FM in Kumasi.
"Coaching demands concentration and I need to fully concentrate on one of these jobs. So I told them it's either the national team or the club. And obviously the club was the first option," he added.
Akwasi Appiah who has recently been voted the best coach in the Sudanese league made history in 2014 as the first indigenous coach to qualify the Black Stars to the FIFA World Cup which took place in Brazil.
