Alex Asamoah turned down big offers to sign for Samartex FC

Ex-Kotoko striker Alex Asamoah claims he turned down several big offers to sign for lower-tier side Samartex FC.

The veteran Ghanaian striker has signed a short term contract with the second-tier side till the end of the season.

The 2009 Ghana Premier League goal king has claimed he turned down several big offers to sign for the lower side in a move resurrect his career.

"I had several big offers in Ghana but I opted for Samartex," he told Asankrangwa-based Royal FM

"There are a number of reasons for that. I will urge the fans to rally behind us as we aim to qualify to the Premier League.

"It's not going to be easy, but we're ready to work hard.

"There is obviously less pressure on you and so it allows you to play your best game.

He has rich experience from playing in the Ghana top-flight after previously representing Berekum Arsenals, Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold.
