The bankroller of King Faisal Alhaji Karim Grusah has threatened to sue the Ghana FA over what he termed the “premature termination” of the sponsorship deal with Globacom.
The Nigerian-owned telecommunication network had its sponsorship contract terminated as the headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League over its inability to fulfil the financial obligations.
“I use the Globacom money as a collateral in bank in running King Faisal and till now the money has not been paid, how do you expect me to get money to pay back to the bank,” Grusah told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.
“It’s the responsibility of the GFA to retrieve the unpaid monies to the Premier League clubs, I’m planning to take a legal action in the coming days against the football Association to retrieve our monies.”
Glo owes the GFA in excess of $6.5 million in a five-year deal signed in 2008.
He further stressed the FA should be very truthful and transparent in their financial and legal dealings.
