The highly anticipated GBSA organised Beach Soccer Leagues will kick off on Saturday the 17th of November, 2012 at the La beach soccer arena in Accra.

Ten teams in the championship and ten clubs in Division 1, will battle out for 18 weeks in what still remains West-Africa’s only two-tier beach soccer leagues.

The organisers of the league have also announced that for the first time there would be radio commentary of key matches and a TV highlights show.

In July 2012, FIFA in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) organised an intensive residential technical course in Prampram for 27 beach soccer and football officials.

Following the successful one week course, FIFA instructor Talib Hilal challenged the GBSA to form a national team to compete in regional, continental and international competitions. This directive has been accepted by the GBSA and it is expected that Ghana's first ever national beach soccer team could be unveiled by the end of the year in conjunction with the GFA.

Bawa Fuseini who is the General Secretary of the GBSA has assured sports fans, the corporate world and the media of an exciting league.

''We are almost through with registration and some clubs have already recieved their pre-season sponsorship package. A few clubs that have not signed for their packages will be paid today''

The upcoming season promises to be a much closer affair with reigning Championship winners, Keta Sunsports looking to defend their title against the likes of Ada Assurance, LA Yoca, Dansoman BSC and Teshie United.

Three new clubs have emerged to join the Division 1 League which promises to make it even more thrilling. The clubs are Winneba Giants, Cape Coast Warriors and Tema United BSC. A further boost for beach soccer in Ghana is a two year deal reached with Marketing and Sponsorship outfit Omniquest.

The 2012/13 Beach Soccer Championship is sponsored by Cal Bank to the tune of Gh44,00 and supported by Voltic Mineral Water with the Division 1 League being organised by the GBSA and Voltic mineral water.
