Ahead of the naming of the final 23-man squad to represent Ghana at next month's World Cup in South Africa, Black Stars General Captain, Richard Kingson has called on all soccer loving Ghanaians to support head coach Milovan Rajevac and his team when the final list is released.
Players of the provisional 30-man squad together with the Stars technical team and some officials of the Ghana Football Association are in France to commence camping ahead of next month's competition.
The Black Stars will play friendly games against Holland and Latvia before emplaning to South Africa
Ghana plays Serbia on the 13th June, Australia on 19th and Germany on 23 June
It is during the camping period that the technical team headed by Milovan Rajevac will settle on the final 23 players for the World Cup by June 1st.
According to Kingson, all players included in the thirty-man provisional squad deserve a place in the team and are capable of featuring for Ghana in the mundial
However, the list has to be downsized to 23 for the competition
He has therefore urged all soccer loving Ghanaians especially sports commentators and journalists to accept the final 23-man squad in good faith irrespective of who makes the final list
"I know it’s often difficult to see one's favourite being omitted but the coach knows who is best for the team" he said.
"It will be very painful for whoever does not make the final 23, but that is football. When this happens, we all need to support the team in prayers and expect that they raise high the national flag" he added.
Despite his gallant outing at the last Nations Cup in Angola in January, where he propelled the Stars to the finals of the competition the finals in almost two decades, Kingson himself together with the likes of skipper Stephen Appiah and Eric Addo have come under several criticism from a section of the media for their inclusion in the provisional list because of limited playing time with their respective clubs.
But according to Kingson, the World Cup is meant for the matured and not the ordinary, stressing that it takes a lot to play at the World Cup.
A look at the Italian national team that won the last World Cup in Germany and past winners of the competition shows clearly that the World Cup is not meant for the ordinary but rather maturity and experience is the key at that stage.
The Stars, who are grouped alongside, Australia, Serbia and former winners Germany, will open their campaign against Serbia on June 13. They will play Australia on 19th and Germany on 23 June
