Liverpool are set to step up their interest in young Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey.
The 18-year-old, currently of Swedish side Djurgarden IF, is attracting huge interest across Europe after a number of commanding performances in the Allsvenskan this season.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers added Aly Cissokho, Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure and Tiago Ilori to his defensive options during the summer however the form of Amartey has caught his attention.
"I do not comment on individual clubs' interest, but the player in question is one of Allsvenskan's talents and is only 18 years old," Djurgarden chief scout Khaled El-Ahmad told fotbollskanalen.se
"It had been misconduct by the big leagues not to follow him," he added.
Amartey's agent, Patrick Dark, also confirmed a number of Europe's top clubs are tracking his client, but did not comment on whether Liverpool had made an approach.
Rodgers already made clear his intentions to improve his squad in the new year, after a superb start to the new season.
Liverpool currently sit second in the Premier League on 17 points, two off table-toppers Arsenal.
West Brom visit Anfield tomorrow, with Rodgers' men looking to avenge their 2-0 home defeat to the Baggies last season.
