Copenhagen's Daniel Amartey is set to have his medicals at Leicester City on Thursday as he inches closer to a £5m move to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old, who can play in both defence and midfield, will become the Foxes’ second signing of the January transfer window after securing the £3.7m capture of former Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray.

Amartey is a full-international with six caps for Ghana to his name and is just the latest player to be recruited by the now-acclaimed Leicester scouting network.

Notable signings in the past include Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kanté who have propelled Claudio Ranieri’s side up to second in the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Arsenal.

Amartey is likely to be unveiled in time for Leicester's game with Stoke City on Saturday if he passes his medicals today.

Amartey, a member of the Ghana squad that finished runners-up at last year's African Nations Cup, joined the Danish club from Djurgårdens in 2014

A log on Denmark's stock exchange suggests the deal is initially worth around 34 million Danish crowns (£3.47m) but is expected to include further fees and bonuses.
