The Ghana forward has made it clear that playing in the world's elite club competition is not a major motivation for him

Ghana international André Ayew has emphasized that the Uefa Champions league is not a major factor in where he chooses to play his football next term.

The 25-year-old's contract at Olympique de Marseille ends in June 30 and he has not yet extended it, prompting a general assertion that he will leave the club this summer.

The attacking midfielder has, however, not refuted the possibility of leaving or staying even if Marseille, who are 4th in the Ligue 1 table, do not clinch one of the Champions League places. The forward maintains that playing in the elite continental competition is not his top priotity-perhaps opening the door to a move to either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur. "Marseille qualifying or not qualifying for the Champions league will not affect my future. What will bind me with Olympique Marseille are the projects we want to do. My future does not depend on the Champions League." Ayew told Telefoot.

"I have not yet decided my future. When I make my decision, I will say it quickly," he continued.

Ayew also revealed that discussions are still ongoing with Marseille and an agreement have not yet been reached.

Currently, Ayew receives 300,000 euros a month at Marseille and he is one of their big earners. However, AS Roma, Everton, Swansea City, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg are among some of the clubs interested in him, and they may look to recruit the player on a free transfer at the end of June.
