Former Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan is relishing a return to the Black Stars after overcoming his injury challenges.

The former Hearts of Oak player broke into the Ghana team in 2008, and remained a key member of the set-up until sometime in 2012 when injuries kept him out of both club and international activities.

Speaking to SportsCrusdaer.com, Annan believes his activeness at club level coupled with his current injury-free situation should increase his chances of landing a call-up soon.

“I am ever ready for the Black Stars. Over the last few years, I must admit that it has not been a very good time for me because of playing time, especially when I was playing for Schalke O4. But I thank God for taking me to Finland where I enjoyed a regular playing time,” the TSV 1860 Munich player said.

Annan added: “I know the Black Stars coaches are watching me and if they think I deserve a call up, why not, I will come. I would love to wear the jersey of Ghana again. I am a Ghanaian and I can’t turn my back on Ghana. Anytime I am called, I shall come.”

The diminutive midfielder, who took part in the Stephen Appiah testimonial match over the weekend, enjoyed his best playing career at Rosenberg in Norway, until his big move to Schalke 04.

However, Annan needs to fight hard to make his way back into the team due to the high level of competition in the Ghana midfield department.
