Anthony Annan rejoins Staebaek IF

Ghana international, Anthony Annan has inked a short-term deal with Norwegian top-flight side, Staebaek IF.

The 29 year old diminutive midfielder has returned to the club he once played 7 years ago before moving to Rosenborg and has a contract till the end of the season.

The former Hearts of Oak middle man terminated his contract with Bundesliga 2 side, 1860 München ahead of the 2015/16 European football season.

Annan has played for host of European clubs like, German outfit Shalke 04, Laliga side Osasuna side and Finish giant HJK Helsinki and in order to get his old form back he has joined Staebaek IF on a short term deal where he will be playing alongside his Ghanaian compatriot Ernest Asante.

An official statement at Staebaek IF Website with respect to Annan’s capture reads:

“Staebaek and Anthony Annan have agreed a short-term deal. Staebaek has received the required dispensation from the Norwegian Football Association which required getting players outside the transfer window, he now needs work and residence permit before the Ghanaian can put on Staebaek shirt.

“He is a former hero now returning and we are very happy that everything went on well. Anthony is a good player and we hope he will contribute positively.

“Annan won gold with Staebaek in 2008 and has since played for clubs like Rosenborg, Schalke 04 and 1860 München”.

Anthony Annan was part of the Black Stars of Ghana team that reached the quarter finals stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa.
