ORGANISERS of the international friendly between Nigeria and Ghana in London have named Arik Air as the official airline for the game holding at the Watford Football Club ground, Vicarage Road, London, UK. As the official airline sponsor of the friendly, Arik Air will convey a delegation of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to London for the match.
This is not the first time Arik Air will be involved in a high profile sporting event. It airlifted the Super Eagles to Durban last year for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, while the Super Falcons and Flying Eagles also patronised the airline at the African Women Championship and African Youth Championship in South Africa in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Speaking on Arik Air’s involvement in the Nigeria, Ghana friendly, the airline’s Managing Director, Chris Ndulue, said: “There is a huge Nigerian and Ghanaian community in the UK (United Kingdom), who are keen on this game and we will make things easy for them to be able to bring their friends and families to the game.
“Even though the game will be played in England, soccer fans in Nigeria and Ghana are also interested in going to watch the match and Arik Air’s daily Lagos-London Heathrow and five times weekly Abuja-London Heathrow flights, with convenient connections from Accra and other parts of Nigeria, will ensure they get the opportunity to travel to watch the game.”
