Former Black Stars forward, Arthur Moses has joined the tall list of young former
players who are giving back to clubs what they received by way of experience.
After sojourns in Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and other places, he is in
town as the team manager of premiership side, Berekum Chelsea a job he relishes so
much.
He revealed on “Where are they” yesterday that besides the technical lessons the
players receive, he goes the extra mile to admonish the players about issues of
life-how they should conduct themselves on and off the pitch.
“I tell them that as footballers, they have limited playing time regarding their
retiring age, so I tell them to maximize the opportunities the come their way,”
said Moses.
To Moses, although Abedi Pele is not his biological brother, his role in
recommending him(Moses) to clubs like Marseille and other clubs had a positive
influence in his soccer career.
“Abedi recommended me to his employers whenever he was exiting-from France and Saudi
Arabia where he ended up his career,” added Moses.
He pointed out that the niche Pele carved for himself made his stay at France and
Saudi comfortable.
Remembered for his face saving goal he together with Sam ‘Foyoo’ Johnson (one
apiece) scored in the Ghana-Morocco ‘98 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi, Moses
regrets that his generation blessed with talents like Abedi, Tony Yeboah, CK
Akunnor, Sammy Osei Kuffuor, Emmanuel Duah, Augustine Arhinful, Yaw Preko and
others missed the World Cup train.
According to him, he would have love to see Ghana qualify for the France ’98 World
Cup saying, “I was in France by then so qualifying for the World Cup would have been
great .”
