Liberty Professionals? lead striker, Asamoah Gyan who left Ghana last Sunday soon after playing brilliantly against Kotoko to begin his career with Italian Serie A side, Udinese says he is prepared to respond to any national call.

Gyan in a post match interview with the Soccer Express after Liberty Professionals? loss to Asante Kotoko on Sunday stated that even though he is leaving at a time when the Black Meteors have commenced preparations, he is ready to join the team whenever he is invited.

"I am going to begin my five-year contract with Udinese now, but if I am invited for the national team anytime, I would come and play."

Gyan, who would be joining other Ghanaian players like Mohammed Gargo and Sulley Muntari at Udinese, believes that the club is a big club though he confessed that it was not in the same league as AC Milan and Juventus. He was optimistic that he could make the grade.

"I think Udinese has some big players like Pizarro and Carsten Jancker but I am sure I would get a chance to prove myself. I don?t know whether I would go into the senior team or go to the junior side, I would play my best anywhere I go."

The Liberty Professionals sensational attacker crowned his local career with the Best Player Award in his last game for the Dansoman-based club in the Coca-Cola Top Four Competition last Sunday.

Commenting on the outcome of the game, Gyan who caused problems for the Asante Kotoko rearguard expressed his disappointment at their defeat but said ?that?s football?.

"I think we lost concentration in the course of the game but in football, you win and sometimes lose."

The Liberty and National Under-23 attacker is however doubtful to play for the Black Meteors in their Olympic qualifier against Algeria to be played in Obuasi on February 22 due to his new move.

The Serie A club?s signing of Asamoah Gyan makes him the fourth Ghanaian player to join the Italian side after Mohamed Gargo, Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and Sulley Muntari, who also joined Udinese from Liberty Professionals.

Meanwhile, new Ghana coach Mariano Barreto would have to revise his player call ups after defender, John Mensah picked up an injury over the weekend when starring for his new club Modena in the Italian Serie A.

The Ghanaian defender was taken off during the game with Ancona after he suffered a thigh strain. The degree of the injury is not yet known but it is expected that he would be out of action for some days as he is expected to go for a scan this week, team doctors intimated. John Mensah joined Modena on loan from Chievo Verona where he had less playing time.
