Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has returned to action after recovering from an ankle injury.

The 21-year-old played for Udinese in their game 3-2 victory over Sampdoria on Sunday.

He trained with his Italian side Udinese for the first time on Friday since suffering the injury three weeks ago.

Asamoah picked up the knock during the Black Meteors clash with Nigeria in Accra last month.

He missed the four-nation tournament which the Black Stars won because of the injury.

His return is a boost for the Black Stars ahead of the next month's African Cup of Nations as he is considered by many as Ghana's top striker.

"I am happy with the progress I have made during training and I am keen to return to play for the Black Stars," Asamoah told Ghanasoocernet.com .

"Even though I was not happy about not playing at the four-nation tournament, it is better I recover of the major assignment that is the Nations Cup."

Asamoah's return is also a boost for Udinese as he has been in good form this season.
