Medeama SC striker Nathaniel Asamoah insists that his performance this season in the Ghana Premier League leaves him to believe that he is enjoying the best moments of his career.
The 25-year-old former Asante Kotoko player has being the driving force of Tom Strand’s men, scoring 13 goals that have helped push the team into mid table.
Asamoah had a successful season with Kotoko in 2011, which earned him a lucrative offer in Serbia with Red Star Belgrade after recommendation from former coach Bogdan Korac. However, he returned to Ghana and joined Medeama in 2013 after failing to earn a contract extension despite helping the team to win the Serbian Cup in 2012.
“This season has been marvellous for me. I think it’s the best in my career,” Asamoah told Asempa FM. “I’ve scored 13 goals in 17 games after missing two matches due to injuries. I will continue to do my best but I must say that I’ve not targeted any number of goals before the season ends.
“My main target is to help my team finish in a good position and so it is definitely not about me but my club. I’ve enjoyed support immensely from all my teammates that I can’t single one of them out to shower praises on but I know they will continue to provide me with lots of assists untill the end of the season,” he added.
Asamoah made his international debut last month with the local Black Stars at the Cosafa Cup held in South Africa. He is three goals away from equalling last season’s top scorer, Augustine Okrah, who netted 16 times to swoop the goal king diadem and best player accolade.
