Asamoah extends contract at Udinese

Asamoah Gyan will stay with Udinese until 2012.

The 21-year-old forward returned to Udinese in 2006 after two seasons on loan at Modena. Financial details of the contract extension were not released by the club Thursday.

Asamoah scored eight goals last season to help the Italian team to 10th place in the country's top division. He also scored the fastest goal in the 2006 World Cup, after just 1 minutes, 8 seconds, in Ghana's 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
