Asante Kotoko acting Chief Executive, Opoku Nti, says the club are not yet champions despite holding the advantage to win this season’s Ghana Premier League for a third consecutive time.
With three matches to go, Kotoko has a ten-point lead but could see that whittled to seven if Heart of Lions win their outstanding match against Medeama.
Medeama will also move within five points off the leaders if they win all their outstanding four matches.
Kotoko are running out of steam after losing three of their last five matches and that is a major concern for the club’s hierarchy.
“We are not yet champions. We don’t want complacency to still be in the team. If we say we have already won the league, it would affect the players psychologically,” Nti told Nhyira FM
“Football is full of surprises, anything can happen. So we would not say we are champions.”
Nti, a club legend, also admitted that the temporary closure of their home ground is negatively affecting the club’s performance.
“Fatigue and complacency has set in the team, and these have affected our performance on the pitch.
