Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold Football Club Cudjoe Fianoo has given strong hints of reporting Hearts of Oak striker Gilbert Fiamenyo to the Ghana FA over racial remarks following last Sunday’s 0-1 defeat to the Miners at the Len Clay Stadium.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the bulky striker accused centre referee Yao Ametepey of disgracing all indigenes of the Volta Region with his performance.

“I normally don’t talk about referees but this referee has made me ashamed to be an Ewe man. With such a match with both teams playing well and with a huge crowd, he was supposed to have given us good officiating. But he disgraced all indigenes of the Volta Region. He has spoiled our name as Ewes,” Fiamenyo said.

Reacting to the matter, Cudjoe Fianoo has described the former Heart of Lions attacker’s remarks as distasteful and should not be encouraged.

“When I read about it, I felt sad that a player would make such remarks. Myself and Hearts of Oak’s MD Neil Armstrong are all Ewes so what does he make of us? FIFA has invested so much into eradicating racism from the game and we [Ghana] must not entertain such comments from any football person in this country.

We as a club [AshantiGold] are taking this matter to the Ethics Committee with all the urgency and hope the GFA takes the matter up,” the AshGold chief remarked.

Meanwhile, footyGhana understands that the leadership of the Phobian club is set to undertake internal measures to call the striker to order.
