AshantiGold FC say they have decided to boycott their FA Cup quarter-final match against Asante Kotoko in Accra after the organizers failed to respond to their concerns about their venue change.
The Obuasi-based side complained they have been punished after the tie was moved from the Baba Yara Stadium due to a Ghana FA home-match ban.
But the FA Cup Committee refused to respond to it officially.
They requested for some financial assistance to make the trip but did not get any positive response from the organizers.
“We have no business in Accra tomorrow so we are presently at Obuasi,” the club’s spokesperson Kofi Yawson told New Mercury FM.
“We have taken a decision already we won’t play the match.
“We can’t walk to Accra so we are at Obuasi as I am talking.
“We gave the committee ultimatum up to 1pm yesterday and they refused to respond officially but rather, they we’re using telephone to respond to it.
“AshantiGold do not do business on phone. We are not kindergarten pupils.”
If AshantiGold fail to turn up, they are likely to be handed a three-year ban.
