AshGold struggled to silence Okwahu United in the 17th edition of the GT premiership courtesy Alfred Arthur?s 72nd minute goal that separated the two sides. AshGold had earlier beaten the soccer mountaineers at their own backyard 2-1 making the total goal aggregate 3-1 in favour of AshGold. Though AshGold paraded most of their irregular players due to the fact that most of their key players have been invited into the national team whilst others are serving suspensions after receiving yellow cards with the rest on the injury list.
The game commenced on a bright note when Ofosu Amoah in the early stage outran his marker and laid a pass to Kofi Deblah but was savagely brought down by David Mensah. The resultant kick was however wasted to the relief of the visitors.
AshGold made several incursions to find the opener and harassed the defenders of Okwahu but the well-knitted defence of Okwahu deprived the Aboakese lads from drawing the first blood. In the 23rd minute Kofi Deblah blasted a left shot that went straight the hands of Alhassan Fatao.
The most glorious opportunity fell for Kwabena Adusie in the 49th minute when he waded through the defenders of AshGold with only Fatau Dauda at his mercy, blasted the ball far over the bar to the relief of the AshGold.
AshGold sensing danger made two substitutions bringing on Thomas Duah for jittery Matthew Attiogbe in the 57th minute and Kwaku Sarpong taking over from Ricky Essuman in the 61st minute. Thomas Duah came close to scoring in the 68th minute after receiving a pass from Kofi Deblah in the 18yard box he powered a left shot that missed the post by inches.
4 minutes later, Alfred Arthur set the Stadium alive when he overlapped from the defence and blasted a powerful left shot that beat the goalie of the visitors for the opener.
Tony Baffoe was yellow carded in the 86th minute for whacking Wisdom Abbey but the resultant kick was however wasted to the relief of AshGold.
