Ashantigold are considering pulling out of Sunday’s MTN FA Cup against Kotoko over change of venue, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
The two teams have been ordered to play the quarter-final tie at the Accra sports stadium after Kotoko were slapped with a three-match home ban for crowd trouble.
However, the miners are unhappy with the decision because they will incur more debt if they make the long journey to Accra for the crucial encounter.
The match which was originally scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi, could have seen them incur only 700 Ghana cedis as travelling cost from Obuasi.
But the decision to shift the game to the capital means they will need to fork out 7,000 Ghana cedis or more.
Aside the monetary consideration, coach Bashir Hayford side also feel the long distance of travelling from Obuasi to Accra rather serves as a punishment to them. They have therefore sent a strong signal to the organizers to consider changing the venue or they will pull the plucks on their involvement.
The two Ashanti-Regional rivals will be seeking to advance to the last four of the FA Cup.
