Ashgold beat Aduana Stars in Top Four Tournament

Obuasi, Aug. 1, GNA - Ashanti Gold beat Premier League champions, Dorma Aduana Stars by a lone goal in the opening match of the Ghalca Top Four Tournament played at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Ashgold, runners up of the Premier League scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute through their newly signed player Eric Fordjour whose free-kick sailed straight into the net with goalkeeper Stephen Adams looking on helplessly.

Aduana who were led by Bernard Don Bortey of Hearts of Oak's fame, came back from the recess full of determination and mounted series of attacks on their opponents but series of shots by the strikers at goal were expertly saved by keeper Fatau Dauda in post for Ashgold.

The Leaguer champs in the 50th minute earned a free-kick at the edge of the Ashgold's penalty area but Don Bortey's kick went wild to the joy of the home fans.

The last minutes of the match saw both sides pressing for a goal but which never came until referee Joseph Lamptey whistled for the end of the match.
