Assistant Coach of Liberty professionals Felix Aboagye says striker Ebenezer Assifuah has been a revelation at the ongoing FIFA under 20 World Cup in Turkey.
The former Sekondi Eleven Wise player has starred well for the Satellites at the competition scoring five goals in the tournament.
Assifuah struggled at the initial stages of the championship, but has bounced back in style and gunning for the top scorer award.
Felix Aboagye who won 23 caps for Ghana tells XYZ Sports that the club is pleased with the performance of the 19-year-old striker. “So far both Ashai and Assifuah have been a revelation, but I think that Assifuah has been phenomenal.
He added: "When Assifuah arrived from Eleven Wise we saw his potential, but he was lacking some minor attacking skills so we needed to work on him tremendously and so far it has reflected in his performance. At the Africa Youth championship he was sensational but we needed to work on him for the World Cup and we are so pleased that the hard work has paid off”.
Assifuah”s performance has caught the eye of many European clubs with Italian sides Cagliari, Napoli and Udinese among such clubs.
Felix Aboagye added that Liberty will not stand in his way if he earns an opportunity to play abroad.
“I got my first professional contract at Al Ahly when I was just like him and through hard work I became one of the best for the country," he said.
"We will not stop him from pursuing his career in Europe. At his level he needs to improve and where he can improve is to go to Europe so that he will improve upon his talent. When you keep him here he will be frustrated and at this moment he is on top of his game.
"As a club our philosophy is to groom talents and give them the exposure so it will be better to send him to Europe as quickly as possible for him to develop his career and build a good future for himself,” he added.
Assifuah is tied on five goals with Portugal’s Bruma and Jese of Spain but has the chance to add to his haul in Saturday’s concluding match against Iraq in the third place game. He won the same award at the Africa Youth championships in Algeria with five goals.
