The agent of Roma and Chelsea target Abdul Rahman Baba confirms Augsburg “want €18-20m, but there’s a lot of competition.”
The Giallorossi are looking to replace Jose Holebas, who is heading to Premier League outfit Watford.
His agent spoke to LaRoma24 and was asked about rumours Baba rejected Chelsea because he wanted regular playing time.
“No, that’s not true. It is the classic example of bad investigative journalism,” said Sascha Empacher.
“Many big European clubs are interested in Baba, but they do not want to be named. Do Augsburg want €18-20m? Yes, that can be correct.
“There is a lot of competition for the player. If a side is interested, then they have to make an offer to the club.
“Are Roma about to make an imminent offer? I don’t know anything about that at the moment.”
