U-20 World Cup winner Gladson Awako is relishing the prospect of signing for English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspurs. Awako says it will be a dream come true should he succeed the move to Spurs. “Of course I will be very happy to sign for Tottenham. They are a top side who play attractive football and I think they will provide me with a very good platform to develop as a footballer,” Awako said in an interview.

Media reports have indicated that Tottenham Hostpurs Manager Harry Redknapp has put the lenses on the combative Ghanaian youth international. Accordingly, a move to White Hart Lane may be on the horizon for the young player as early as the January transfer window. But Awako says his agent is yet to confirm Tottenham’s interest in the signature of the U-20 Africa and World Cup winning midfielder.

That is why he has rejoined the camp of his local side Heart of Lions ahead of Sunday’s round of Glo Ghana Premier League fixtures. “I am still a player of Heart of Lions and I just have to focus on that now. I will work even harder than before because I know hard work pays in football. I will do my best to help Lions as much as I can in the league,” Awako said after leading a select side to battle the East Legon Monday Stars in a special friendly at the Bawaleshie Presby Park.

U-20 World Cup best player and goalking Dominic Adiyiah was also present at the match, many fans present hero-worshipping the victorious Satellites duo. Awako thanked his countrymen for their endless support which helped the team to beat all before them and end up as world champions. “There is no other way to reciprocate the support of Ghanaians than to bring home the trophy. That is why we are so glad to have won the U-20 World Cup for Ghana,” Gladson Awako concluded.
