Ghana defender Awal Mohammed was a pillar at the back to help Raja Casablanca to a 3-1 victory over Fus Rabat in the Moroccan FA cup first leg.
Awal,27, has had a smooth start to life in Casablanca having been involved in Raja’s last seven games.
The former Maritzburg United defender was instrumental at the stade as Raja produced their most convincing performance of the season yet to beat an inform Fus Rabat 3-1.
Two quick goals from Ahmed Jahouh and El Ouadi gave the Green and white side the advantage but Morocco international Benjalloun reduced the deficit on the 49th minute for Rabat before Abdelilah Hafidi restored Raja’s two goal advantage on the 60th minute.
Awal produced his most important contribution in the game when he cleared off a goal bound effort on the 83rd minute to keep his side’s two goal advantage intact.
Fellow Ghana international Yakubu Mohammed and Nathaniel were unused substitute in the game.
