French giants Marseille are considering naming Ghana superstar Andre Ayew as their new captain in a bid to convince the play-maker to stay at the club next season.

The 24-year-old, who has refused several overtures from top clubs in Europe to move, is likely to leave because of their dismal showing in the league this term.

But in-coming Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa sees the youngster as key to his ambitions of rebuilding the club to challenge the likes of PSG and Monaco for supremacy in France.

Ayew, who started his career at the French club where his father played, is seen by Bielsa as the man to lead the dressing room as the will embark on a massive clear-out campaign to rid the club old players.

This, according to French newspaper La Provence, will pave the way for the Argentine to recruit some of the best youngsters in France to mount the challenge of fighting their opponents.

Ayew is expected to lead the new generation which will also convince him to stay even though clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter Milan have shown interest in the Ghanaian youngster.

Ayew is also a good leader having captained Ghana’s U20 side to the world title in Egypt in 2009.
