B/A Management To Resign?

Mon, 18 Nov 2002 Source: baunited.com

Reports reaching BAUNITED.COM indicate that the Management of B/A United, headed by the hard-working Kingsley Osei-Bonsu (Zico) is getting ready to carry out its threat of resigning en bloc. In an interview, a source close to Management hinted that their decision to call it quits stems from a smear campaign by George Arthur, a former player of the club and his associates, including the Board Chairman, Mr.Sam Bennett to create disaffection for them.

According to the source, George Arthur has been moving around making all sorts of promises to the players and supporters of the club. He is alleged to have promised a five hundred thousand monthly salary for each player, three hundred thousand as wining bonus, coupled with a BUS, a fifteen-bedroom Club House among others, when given the chance to run B/A United. The Management therefore thinks it would therefore be appropriate for them to step aside for the so-called messiahs to come and run the club.

It would be recalled that in year 2000, B/A United went into relegation over claims by George Arthur that the club was not being run professionally and that players were being poorly paid, a move that completely destabilized the focus of the club which led them into relegation. He however, quit the club afterwards and never contributed anything to get the club to its current position.

The source also blamed the Board Chairman of the club, Mr. Sam Bennett for colluding with George Arthur to cause confusion in the club, by clandestinely smuggling the former player into the Board of Directors of the Club without the consent of the Life Patron of the Club, Nana Bossoma Asor Nkrewiri, and Omanhene of Sunyani Traditional Area. The 18-member-board, one of the largest in the country has only managed to give the Management 2.5 million cedis to run the club for the entire 2002 season.
