Sunyani (B/A) Oct 21 GNA - Brong-Ahafo United Football Club drew 1-1 with visiting Berekum Arsenals in an ill tempered special friendly match played at the Sunyani Coronation park last Sunday. Arsenals led 1-0 at half time.

Contrary to the reconciliation tag on the match, the two sides played it so hard that the captain of the United, Charles Ampiah and Kwame Agyei of Arsenals were sent off by referee S.Y. Braimah after a fight on the field of play.

United were the first to put the ball into the net in the 27th minute through an indirect free kick, but the referee disallowed the goal because the ball did not touch a second player before entering the net.

Let off the hook Arsenals attacked in bursts and had to wait till the closing minutes of the first half when Opoku beat United's goalkeeper Quansah with a classic shot for the opening goal. With their pride at stake, United mastered all their resources on resumption and their efforts were rewarded in the 60th minute when Awudu Moro equalized with a perfect shot.

The beauty of the game was lost from then on as rough-house tactics became the order of the afternoon as referee Braimah lost his authority on the game. This continued till the latter stages of the game when he red-carded Captain Ampiah of United and Agyei of Arsenals.
