Berekum Chelsea coach Hans Van der Plyum says injury coast ex-international Baba Amando a place in their CAF Champions League squad.

The 31-year-old was left out of the list submitted to CAF as they make their debut appearance in Africa’s flagship inter-club competition.

Armando has not featured for the Blues since joining the club at the start of the season due a nagging injury which has kept him on the sidelines.

The Dutchman says the decision to exclude him from the list was due to his ill-health.

“There is no problem with the decision to leave him out because he’s not fit to play,” Van der Plyum told www.berekumcheslea.com

“I have spoken with him and he understands the need to get well first before we start looking at him again.

“It’s in his own interest and he is ok with the decision. We shouldn’t make it a big deal.”

Experienced names like Charles Taylor and former Asante Kotoko captain Jordan Opoku are among the troops.

Former King Faisal playmaker Prince Papa Arko has been registered for the continent’s premier club competition after returning from Egyptian side Ismailia.

Other new faces who have joined the Blues are former King Faisal duo Awudu Nafiu and Wahab Yahaya.

Former Sekondi Hasaacas midfielder Joseph Ato Bissah was recruited in the mid-season transfer window and registered for the competition.

Chelsea, winners of last season’s Ghana Premier League, will begin their debut campaign against Liberian side LISCR.
