Management members of Ghanaian Premier League side BA United have reportedly agreed to dismiss head coach Mohammed Gargo less than a week after his appointment. The Brong Ahafo club appointed the former RTU coach to replace Frimpong Manso but Gargo could only last for five days because the club's management considers his post-match comments after their loss to Wa All Stars damaging.

When contacted by TV3 Sports, Mohammed Gargo said he was yet to be informed about any termination of his appointment. The struggling BA United earlier this month sacked its entire management and appointed a new body to steer the club, but new coach Gargo has been relieved of his duties just after his first game in charge.

"Yes, I can confirm to you that the management has decided to sack Gargo because we feel he cannot continue to work with players he has accused of match fixing", A management member told Accra-based Atinka FM on condition of anonymity.

"He (Gargo) is on his way to meet the club's CEO, Roy Arthur in Accra and that is where he will receive his letter of termination of appointment. His comments were detestable and so there is no way we can keep him with the club"

Mohammed Gargo has attributed BA United’s run of poor results to players’ involvement in betting activities.

The ex-Ghana international took charge of the team following the resignation of Frimpong Manso who guided them to secure a qualification back into the Ghana Premier League after a 10 year drought.

But Gargo after losing his first game to Wa All Stars, said the playing body of B.A United were to blame for the dwindling fortunes of the club because they were fixing matches to favour their bets. He had thus noted that he was going to decide on his job in a couple of days.

“What is happening here I don’t think is a technical problem; there is a lot that one needs to really find out. I am very disappointed with the players’ attitude towards this match; although we had one training session, I did everything to ensure a win,” he said in a post-match interview.

Mohammed Gargo claimed “some of the club's key supporters came to tell me that the players have been partaking in football betting with Safari and the likes and they even do it to let the team lose, which in a way confirms the rumors going around and in such a situation there is nothing that one could do".

“I have to think twice about it, whether I will continue here or not because what is actually going on here is killing football. I don’t want to be part of a losing team,” he added.

B.A United are at the bottom of the league table with 7 points in 10 games.
