Abdul Baba Rahman believes he can still squeeze into Ghana’s 2014 World Cup squad following his outstanding displays for German outfit Greuther Furth.

Regarded as one of the brightest talent to have emerged from the African country, Rahman has become an important piece for the Germany second-tier side over the past two seasons.

The ex-Kotoko left-back is rumoured to be one of the players being considered for a potential call-up ahead of the global piece in Brazil.

The talent of the 19-year-old has never been in doubt after he tasted action in the Bundesliga last season where he rub shoulders with the likes of Franck Ribery, Mario Gotze, Thomas Muller among a host of other top stars.

Competition for places in Kwesi Appiah’s final squad with be fierce with Harrison Afful, Daniel Opare, Samuel Inkoom, David Addy and Lee Addy are in the frame for a possible call-up.

However the Dreams FC product is relishing his chances having been consistent for his European outfit.

“There is always that possibility because I believe I’m hitting my peak,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com

“I always want the pitch to do the talking for me. But I’m confident I can make the squad.

“You always have to remain positive. The World Cup is the biggest football stage and every player dreams of playing at that level.

“And so why not? If the coach gives me a peek I will be delighted. You know I have been called up before but never really got the chance to play.

“But the coach knows best and so he will take his decision. It will be a massive dream for me to represent my country at the World stage.

“I am very committed to the national agenda and so If I get the chance, I will take it with open arms.”

Many have tipped the Ghana Under-20 star to make the final squad as he is seen as the ideal man to solve the unremitting left-back role in the team.

Many Ghanaian players are pushing for a call-up into the team with barely four months left for the BIG tournament to kick starts.
