Explosive Baffour Asare wins Player of the month in Ivorian League

Former Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea forward, Stephen Baffour Asare has announced his presence in the Ivorian league after being voted the best player in the division for the month of February.

The tricky forward, affectionately called Manucho, left Berekum Chelsea at the end of last season after a deadly partnership with Kofi Owusu, the top scorer in the Ghana premier league last season, caused havoc in many opposition defenses. The nimble-footed forward scored 12 goals and provided 4 assists in a ground breaking 2014/15 season for him in the Ghanaian top division.

After joining defending champions, AS Tanda in the Ivorian league, it has taken the supremely talented Baffour Asare just 38 days to prove his worth in the Ivorian top division. Manucho scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist with 1 MVP award in 3 games in the month of February. This sublime display of attacking potency has been recognized and accordingly rewarded. He has thus been voted as the best player in the Ivorian league for the month of February. He was given a cash prize of cfa 400,000 and a cfa 1000 shopping voucher at a sports equipment shop.

The quick rise of Baffour Asare, who was voted as the best player of Suncity radio's annual inter-community games, MTN Suncity Fest, held in Berekum two years ago is absolutely remarkable. Although his talent has never been questioned, opportunities for the young but enterprising Baffour Asare had been limited until recently.

However, with his recent display of form, the former Berekum Senior High School student has a future which indeed looks very bright. Unquestionably, Avram Grant has a real task ahead in his future call ups to the National team as players like Stephen Baffour Asare and others will continue to knock at his door for opportunities with the Black Stars with performances like that, which has been displayed by Manucho in the Ivorian league so far.
