Ghana’s chances of wooing Mario Balotelli for the Black Stars have taken a considerable dip after Milovan Rajevac’s much publicised meeting with the teenager in Milan failed to happen.
The Serbian coach of Ghana flew to the Italian city in a blaze of publicity and had hoped a face-to-face meeting will help convince the striker that the Black Stars will offer him better prospects at international level than Italy.
Rajevac had travelled to Milan at the GFA’s expense without a prior appointment with Balotelli before frantic phone calls between Ghanaian officials and his Ghanaian father failed to yield one.
In the end, attempts to use Stephen Appiah also proved futile before Rajevac abandoned his mission.
Balotelli has told the GFA through his representatives that he has no interest in playing for Ghana and with each passing day, it seems Ghana’s hopes of capping him will not happen anytime soon.
