Ghana striker Emmanuel Banahene scored the face-saving goal for Ismaily in their 2-1 home reverse against giants Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League on Friday evening.
Banahene, 27, halved the deficit for Ismaily at the Petro Sport Stadium on 18 minutes after the visitors had taken to a 2-0 lead in the opening 12 minutes of the clash.
The former Karsiyaka striker breathed life into the game for Ismaily, as he found Islam Gamal’s cross to head the ball into Ekramy’s net to register his 8th goal of the season.
Ahly have added the 2015/16 Premier League to their trophy haul increasing their title numbers to 38.
Four minutes later, John Antwi missed a chance to double his side’s lead after he found Soliman’s cross but he failed to send it past Ismaily defenders as the first half ended 2-1 for Al Ahly.
Banahene has now scored 8 goals in the Premier League, leaving him with just a goal to reach last season's target.
