AshantiGold coach Bashir Hayford suggests that the Ghana FA’s criteria of selecting a UEFA licensed coach for the Black Stars are baseless.
The GFA is in the process of screening applicants for the vacant Black Stars job following the dismissal of Kwesi Appiah almost a fortnight ago.
No local coach applied for the vacant job with as many as 32 expatriates slapping in their CV’s.
The Ghana U20 women’s team coach said the criteria served as a big disincentive for local coaches.
“I don’t think those at the FA are running Ghana football with UEFA certificates,” he told Kessben FM.
“I cannot go to Europe and coach there, even if I go, I will not get it. “So then are we saying that doctors should have European certificates to be able to practice in Ghana?
“You can ask the Finance Minister – Seth Tekper – whether he is holding a European accounting certificate to perform his work.
“You can even ask the President whether he is running the country with European certification.
“Ours is CAF, they have their UEFA and when you go to Asia it is Asia license they have and so on.”
