Preparations by executives and clubs

of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) to get the 2014 CAL Bank sponsored

League underway has reached an advanced stage as registration of players has

began.

According to Nana Poku Secretary of

the GBSA, clubs have been directed to collect registration forms for the new

season at the Accra Sports Stadium from Wednesday 2nd April 2, 2014.

He said the deadline for submission

of forms has been pegged at Thursday 10th April, 2014.

Nana Poku Amankwa said all clubs must comply

with the directive as players without registration forms will be penalized or banned

from the game.

He hinted that a date will be fixed

for the commencement of the leagues before the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil,

whilst the rainy season is being considered.

20 clubs are involved in Ghana Beach

Soccer with 10 each represented in the Championship sponsored by CAL Bank and

the other 10 clubs playing in the Division One without a sponsor.

The Ghana Beach Soccer League

started two seasons ago and the third season is supposed to be an improvement,

but the GBSA is faced with challenges such as getting a sponsor for the

Division One where much of the excitement is.

President of the GBSA Yaw Ampofo

Ankrah and a few colleagues have been trying to sustain the game, however the

problems of the clubs does not

encourage the game to grow with lots of walk overs when there is no funds to

run the game.

The CAL Bank League has two new

entrants who exceled in the 2013 Division One League.

Gulf Powers led by Jonny Hemans and

Nima BSC managed by Mustapha Mohammed of the ASK Foundation managed to qualify

for the CAL Bank League, and they will be paired against two times winners,

Keta Sunset and others like Tebge Youth, Dansoman BSC, Ada Assurance, Layoca,

La Wuuo Gbee and East Legon Sharks.

The Division One is made up of team

like Chorkor Blue Whales, African Angels, Tema BSC, Senya Bereku Sharks,

Winneba Giants, Cape Coast Warriors, Nungua BSC and Osu Dolphins.

Yours truly appeals to corporate Ghana

to support Beach Soccer as there is much space to advertise in the game.
