Beardsley: England will fancy Ghana

Newcastle United legend Peter Beardsley reckons England will fancy playing Ghana in the World Cup round of 16.

Beardsley is now looking forward to see the tournament unfold as England prepare for the Algerians on Friday.

He said: "Steven Gerrard spoke well after the game and said that seven points can get us through.

"If Ghana beat Australia in their next game then they are through.

"That would be a great draw for England if they were to play Ghana.

"I’m not saying that England couldn’t lose to Ghana if they get them, but it’s incentive for England to go on and win the group."
