Bekoe ok with Chelsea career so far

Former league goal king, Eric Bekoe is okay with his output for Berekum Chelsea during the first round of the 2012/13 Glo Ghana Premier League and is eager to improve come the second half of the campaign. The former Kotoko striker returned back home after an injury-ravaged spell with Petrojet in Egypt and opted for the Berekum club.

Bekoe has not hit the prolific heights he set the last time he played in the domestic league but after notably banging in goals that helped Chelsea beat both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, ending the latter’s unbeaten record, Bekoe is content to carry on the quest to fully revive his career. “I’m impressed with myself because to stay off playing for almost 3 years and I’m back and I was able to score against the giants of Ghana football,” Bekoe told 90 MINUTES exclusively.

He continued: “I’m happy I was able to kill the grand ‘papas’ of the league and I see it as a credit. To God be the glory. “Now I’ve left that behind and preparing seriously for the second round because I am going to cause a mess.”

Similarly, Bekoe is convinced his club have also not fared too bad despite ending the first round five points behind leaders, Medeama and also suffering some embarrassing defeats on the road at Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals.

Bekoe insists the 2011 Ghana champions have to contest every game like a final because of the competition opponents have put up based on the club’s African Champions’ League pedigree.

“For our league position, for myself I would say it’s okay because now Chelsea have set a mark that that ensures that we are rated among the big clubs both in Ghana and outside so whichever team coming to play against us prepares well like never before, like playing against Kotoko and Hearts. It’s not been easy but we are handling it and I believe we will return much stronger in the second round,” Eric Bekoe pledged.
