Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko's head striker
Eric Bekoe has been voted the best player of the Club for the last
soccer season. Bekoe, the top scorer in the Onetouch Premier League beat five
others in a text poll organized by Kotoko's sponsors, cellular outfit
Tigo. Freddy Quainoo, Brands Manager of Tigo who announced this
on Friday said Bekoe pulled 47 percent of the total votes cast by
fans of the Club. Right back Samuel Inkoom, Daniel Nii Agyei, Harrison Afful,
Stephen Oduro and Jordan Opoku followed in that order with 24
percent, 11 percent, 10 percent, 4.6 percent and 4.4 percent
respectively. Kwame Baah Nuako, Communications Director of Kotoko said
the initiative forms part of efforts towards rewarding players of the
Club for their hard work and contributions towards the success of
the team. Bekoe will receive 2,500 Ghana Cedis which will be presented to
him on Sunday, August 31 when Kotoko hosts Sudanese side
Al-Merrikh in their first home game of the CAF Confederation Cup
at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi. Fifty fans will also be rewarded for casting the highest votes
during the poll. Bekoe scored 17 goals to emerge tops in the Premier League.
