Returnee striker Bismarck Idan refuses to cry over spilt milk and is instead focusing on the plot to revive Berekum Chelsea’s chances in the CAF Champions’ League despite failing to beat Al Ahly in Accra.
The striker’s league topping goals powered Chelsea to the Ghana Premier League title last year and was only making his return to action for the club after an unsuccessful stint at Turkey second tier side Goztepe.
Coach van der Pluym handed Idan a starting berth straight away against the Egyptian record winners of the tournament. But he missed a sitter to win the game for Chelsea when he failed to convert a clear cut chance in front of an empty net 5 yards from the goal line. “We tried because we came from a goal down to draw so I will say it’s a good point to take into our next match. There is no problem with the team because we played very well and came close to scoring many times. It’s just a game and we tried our best but it is rather unfortunate that we couldn’t get the win we wanted,” an adamant Idan told 90 MINUTES.
The left footed striker is also not giving up on the dream to conquer Africa’s leading club tournament.
He said: “I believe we can bounce back because the same way they came to draw here, we can also go somewhere to draw or win and everything will change. “What is important is to start preparing towards the next match without delay.” Credit:
